A landscape made for tea

Where morning mist protects flavour.

Where morning mist protects flavour.
Oku-Yame · Fukuoka

Oku-Yame lies among the headwaters of the Yabe and Hoshino rivers in southern Fukuoka. Clean mountain air, abundant water and pronounced day-to-night temperature changes shape its tea.

Morning mist and the surrounding mountains soften direct sunlight. The leaves mature slowly, developing the mellow sweetness, deep umami and restrained astringency for which Yame tea is known.

Nature provides the veil. The tea maker preserves what the leaf has gathered.

Cultivation to cup

From partner fields to our own factory.

Chanohado works directly with tea farmers in Oku-Yame and finishes the leaves close to where they are grown. Fast handling after harvest and careful selection help preserve freshness and character.

  1. 01

    Cultivate

Partner growers tend soil, protect new shoots and manage the fields throughout the year.

  2. 02

    Steam & roll

Fresh leaves are quickly steamed to halt oxidation, then repeatedly rolled into aracha.

  3. 03

    Select & finish

The tea is sorted, refined and fire-finished to draw out its aroma and depth.

  4. 04

    Pack at source

Final adjustment and packing take place at the company’s own Oku-Yame facility.

Selected organic range

Organic, with traceable care.

Chanohado’s Organic JAS range uses tea from selected certified fields managed without chemical pesticides or fertilisers for at least three years. Organic handling is controlled through processing and packing. Certification applies to designated products, not the full collection.
